Silvia Klemm

Silvia Klemm was born in Rome in 1961. Silvia's passion for teaching took her to France and England where she participated in various musical projects for children, such as creating and running musicals. In England she completed a degree in psychology and later earned a diploma in teaching and in 1987 she moved to the United States, to deepen her knowledge of jazz. She enrolled at the Berklee College of Music, where she took courses in jazz, electronic music, modern and classical composition. At Berklee Silvia graduated "cum laude" in film music composition and later at Tufts University in classical composition. She received the Sorensen Prize for her work in the field of film music and two scholarships for excellence in the field of modern music and classical composition. After her studies she devoted herself to composition and teaching.

In 1997 Silvia moved to Florence. She teaches music education and directs a children's' youth orchestra. She collaborates with various organizations arranging and composing for instrumental and vocal youth groups.

In 2001 she was contacted by the Swiss Italian Conservatory. In collaboration, they created a new model of instruction for music education in public schools (music education in kindergarten and elementary) under the direction of Armin Brenner. In November 2001 she became lecturer in studies III and a year later became its manager. She settled in Lugano in 2003, where in addition to her work training, she teaches music education of children aged 4 to 10 years.
